A big weekend for Exceeding Expectations
May 23, 2010

Friends:

A very eventful weekend last week!

Craig and Cherie took Archie and Miguel to a triathlon at Bonelli Park as part of the LA Tri Series. The boys are learning to get comfortable in open water swims so we 'rehearsed last week in a water skiing lake out in the desert. It paid off: Both of them had great races.

Our photographer was at the Mayor's Run in San Bernardino with the rest of the gang so all we got from Bonelli was this one shot: Archie, Miguel (with his aero helmet on backwards), Craig and his daughter Nicolette, and Cherie.

We had a record-setting number of kids at the Mayor's Run (5K, 10K and fun runs for the younger kids) along the original Route 66 in San Bernardino. With all the team members and a whole bunch of siblings who ran the shorter races, there were about a hundred kids in all. Wonderful chaos and a wonderful experience, so share the day with us in pictures here:

After the two races, we went to listen to team member Josh Rodrigues, who won his age group in the 10K, play in a violin recital at the University of Redlands. We knew he was talented, but none of us were prepared for this stunning, deeply moving performance. Take a few minutes to see and hear Josh play:

This morning we took a bunch of the kids for some bike skills training on the Tinman Triathlon race course in preparation for that race. The weather was terrible but it was a great session anyway. If you want to see snow in Southern California in late May, have a look:

Huge thanks to volunteer bike trainers Jeremy, Jake and Client.
